Mr. Shang-Ling Jui is the Senior Vice President of SAP AG, President of SAP Labs China and SAP R&D Center Korea. Coaching more than 1,200 software engineers and solution architects, SAP Labs China puts its major development focus on SAP Business One, SAP Business ByDesign, Industry Best Practices, Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA), Custom Development, Globalization Services, etc. By taking the advantage of the talent pool and the vast market potential in China, SAP Labs China has been growing to the fourth biggest research and development organization within the SAP global development network.
With over 20 years experience in the global software industry, Mr. Jui has been working for SAP in China for over 15 years, previously as Senior Vice President of SAP Greater China, responsible for the consulting business in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan with 200 plus consultants to provide business and technical consulting to over 500 customers in the region. Mr. Jui joined SAP AG in 1992 in Walldorf, Germany as a Basis developer and moved to SAP Labs North America in 1993 to work as the solution architect for the next generation product.
Since 2005, Mr. Jui has been invited as Guest Professor at the School of Software and Microelectronics, Peking University, with a main focus on global software development and ERP solutions. Recognizing his experience and expertise the European Union has invited Mr. Jui since 2006 as Accreditation Expert of the European judges for Sino-EU Information Technology Cooperation Projects to safeguard and council joint IT projects.
Before joining SAP, Mr. Jui worked for European Aeronautic Defense and Space (EADS) AG in Munich, Germany as a system engineer for 2 years. He started his career as a software developer in ThyssenKrupp AG, Dortmund, Germany in 1988.
Born in Taiwan in 1960, now with German nationality, Mr. Jui completed an Executive Program at Stanford Business School, USA in 2000. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Taiwan University, Taiwan (graduated in 1982) and a Master’s degree in Automation Engineering from Siegen University, Germany (graduated in 1988) as well. Mr. Jui continued his studies at Siegen University with doctoral research in Automation Technology from 1988 - 1993.

Abstract: I often meet with policy-makers from different companies to talk about their businesses and IT systems. I find that they always have an intractable issue, i.e. they now need to provide services for the operation of their information systems that served their businesses in the past. Why is this the case? One of the reasons is that they deployed many information systems, it is effort-and-money-consuming to consolidate them, and it will be an inefficient “motley troop” even if they are integrated successfully. The other reason is that the modern business process should be more efficient and flexible to meet the demands of new services in a company, but the miscellaneous systems are not able to make quick response and their costs are considerable. Abstract: Generally the customization will be a part of their requirements whichever companies buy software for their business , even they will require their software provider to make a completely customization for them.
